'Buy Bust' role proof that women can lead action films, Anne says

-

MANILA—According to Anne Curtis, she felt compelled to accept her role in "Buy Bust" when director Erik Matti offered it to her.

"I was so hungry for a role and a film like this," Curtis told reporters during the movie's media conference Tuesday.

After not starring in movies for two years, Curtis said being part of "BuyBust" is the best way for her to celebrate her 21st anniversary in the industry.

But playing the role of a PDEA operative whose team is trapped inside enemy territory was not easy.

"Actually, lahat ng eksena, buwis-buhay siya," Curtis said.

Despite the difficulties and the injuries, she said she never thought of giving up. The movie took two years to finish.

"Never. Sobra akong competitive and challenged, I like to take the challenge on," she said.

Curtis said she wants people to know women can also star in action films.

"Gusto kong patunayan sa pelikulang 'to na kaya ng female lead na gumawa ng action film. 'Yan ang gusto kong patunayan," she said.

Matti said Curtis was perfect for the role.

"On hindsight, if I didn't get somebody as physical as Anne, hindi 'to matatapos 'tong movie na 'to. Or matatapos man siya, parang maraming daya," he said.
