- JCR

THE private sector is optimistic that they will be able to raise the P32 million from sponsorship now that the security situation has turned stable and more partners are interested to support.

Kadayawan festival director Gatchi Gatchalian said during yesterday’s Ispeak Forum at the City Hall that more and more companies have signified their interest to be the city’s partner in making this year’s Kadayawan grander.

“Alam ko malaki ang P32 million but we’re working very hard kaming nasa private sector to raise the funds kasi I know it’s a very big big challenge but we are up to the challenge because mas marami nang interesado this year,” Gatchalian said.

This year’s festival will have a budget of P44 million wherein the P12 million will come from the city government of Davao. In exchange of the sponsorship, the companies will have more exposure in all the events of the Kadayawan Festival.

Last year, he added that for the cash alone, they were able to raise 16 million plus another 10 million worth of goods and products and at that time, there were still security apprehension from different stakeholders with the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.

Although Martial Law

is still in effect, he underscored that normalcy has been restored already and tourism industry has recovered from last year.

“As a matter of fact, we’re getting a lot of new partners simply because last year’s Kadayawan was very successful and even Mayor Sara rated Kadayawan as perfect 10,” he cited.

He added, “We’re more optimistic because more partners, more companies are joining. [There are also] first timers.”

Gatchalian after the media launch on Monday, said they received a lot of inquiries and confirmations to support this year’s festival.

“With more events and more first time partners, more exposure for them, we know na mas marami pang partners na mag jojoin sa atin to support Kadayawan. Of course, yong mga last year na nag support sa atin are coming back. They are the ones coming to us and some are increasing their support this year,” he said.
