- By Adam B. Morrell

THE University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep)'s 1st Alumni Friendship Games formally jumped off with a basketball tournament yesterday at the Usep University Gymnasium and Cultural Center.

The one-day cagefest featured five teams which include the Old Hogs, URC, SAEC, Civil Engineering, and Avain that were welcomed by Dr. Antonio Faunillan Jr., president of Usep Obrero Alumni Association.

The simple opening program was also graced by Engineer Arman Capin, president of Usep Alumni Federation, and Mary Ann Cacananta, Career and Alumni Center Director.

University Athletics Director Dr. Jose Alther Rivera said the primary agenda of this sports festival is to promote camaraderie among alumni of the university.

"Bale pilot sports event lng ni siya para sa mga alumni (this only serves a pilot event for the alumni) cause we are planning for a bigger sporting event since Alumni Association and Federation were very supportive that they opted to donate sports equipment for the athletes and alumni of Usep," Rivera said.

Rivera, in behalf of the University Athletics Office, extended his gratitude to the teams who submitted their entries most especially to the Usep administration for allowing them to use the University Gymnasium and Cultural Center.

Meantime, the softball and volleyball tournament, which are part of Usep's 1st Alumni Friendship Games will unfurl on next Saturday, July 21.

?? ?? STILL HAPPY. The Old Hogs celebrate their defeat after a stinging 72-65 loss against URC.
