A NEW pool of technical vocational education and training (TVET) trainers is now ready to train the workers in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental who will undertake the construction of the proposed industrial park.
The 33 new trainers completed their Training Methodology and acquired their National Certificates on carpentry and masonry on Saturday, July 14, during the graduation ceremony held at ACES Polytechnic College, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
ACES Polytechnic College President and CEO Dr. Francisco P. Dela Peña, Jr. assured that the trainers are equipped with necessary skills, experience, and knowledge to train more people.
“We have a good team to start and train another pool of trainers and workers that will be part of the manpower intended for Banaybanay industrial park. They are ready to train more poeple,” Dela Peña said.
The proposed multibillion eco-industrial project in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental requires at least 10,000 to 30,000 skilled workers.
Tesda Director General, Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong said in his speech that the trainers play a big role in attaining the goal of the agency to produce world class and highly-skilled workers especially on today’s demand of construction workers.
Mamondiong also emphasized the need to train more workers as trainers are vital to address the challenges of the “Build, Build, Build” program including the lack of labor force, trainers and assessors.
He also urged the training institutions to offer construction-related courses like plumbing, welding, scaffolding, etc.
Meanwhile, Mamongdiong said they are set to launch a massive training for thousands of workers in Banaybanay for the ecoindustrial park.
Mamondiong said the program aims to train workers in the different trade areas particularly on courses like carpentry, masonry, tile setting, plumbing, pipe fitting and other construction-related qualifications.
Mamondiong explained that the program is Tesda’s response to the request of the local government unit of Banaybanay to provide the required training assistance for the construction workers of the proposed multibillion Marina Industrial Park project that is set to rise in the said town.
