GOIN’ PLACES

- STELLA A. ESTREMERA

THAT is the blurb that this new place Twistea Room goes by. It’s the newest place along Ruby Street in Marfori Heights. To the baby-boomers, it will be the “house of Sonia/Jorge/Malou” depends on your age group.

For the millennials, new migrants, and those who did not grow up with the family members, it’s the house at the first corner after Mabini turns to Ruby (or the first corner after the junction of the circumferential road).

I say, it’s a room like no other indeed because that was where I tasted salad using native spinach. Yes, kulitis. The tough, dark green amaranth. And I love kulitis.

It also has a craft corner of sorts. I don’t know if it’s functioning, but there were stuff for paper craft, so maybe it does.

Most of all, the food. We got the chicken in creamy mushroom sauce, the spinach salad (I can’t recall what it’s called, the all-meat pizza, and the chicken wings (we got two flavors -- the naked and the spicy). It was more than what four ladies can eat.

Twistea has the diner type of food. The food we love to binge on: chicken wings, pasta, chicken, and they take pride in their freshly-brewed kombucha (honestly, I don’t like it, but many people do, so, Go!).

It’s spacious and thus you don’t get that feeling that you are being squeezed out by the loudmouthed millennials and GenZs. Their voices are dispersed by the high ceiling. Thank God. And I guess, the quiet ambience of the place makes them lower their normally ear-splitting decibel levels a bit.

Now the food. Yes. It’s good. They have a lot of nice stuff put into conventional recipes that make them yummier, and healthier. I like the bread that went with Imee’s chicken in creamy mushroom sauce.

Thre’s a lot more to try. I may need to bring some who have bigger appetites though.

Where’s Twistea Room, again? It’s at Marfori. Look to your left. It’s right there on the second floor, all brightly lit for you to see.
