Traffic plans ready for mall opening

-

WITH the scheduled opening of the NCCC Mall Buhangin today, July 22, the Davao City Transport and Management Office (CTTMO) said plans were laid out to ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.

CTTMO head retired Superintendent Dionisio Abude said that they had already coordinated with the barangay officials in Buhangin and management of NCCC Mall Buhangin and Gaisano Grand Mall which will also soon to open and tackled measures to take considering the expected volume of traffic that it might bring.

“We already created a traffic scheme before because this coming July 22, the NCCC will have its soft opening. So in fact from our meeting, we went to the field to identified where the vehicles would stop,” Abude said.

Dionisio said that from Cabantian, there is no problem since Gaisano Grand Mall allotted area for vehicles to pass through without interrupting the traffic flow.

“Unya naa pa gani silay bypass nga kung pwde dili na muagi diri sa kanto didto nalang sa likod sa Gaisano mall going to Tigatto (They also have bypass where vehicle no longer have to go to the main road going to Tigatto),” he said.

For NCCC, they identified a specific area along PLDT Buhangin before the mall going to Tigatto, where the vehicles could drop off their passengers going to the mall so it won’t hamper the flow of traffic.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH 11) chief information officer Dean Ortiz, meanwhile, cited that there are ongoing road projects that are being carried out in the area such as the bypass road from Cabantian going to Bunawan that would decongest the traffic along C.P. Garcia Highway and Daang Maharlika Highway.

The constructin of the Tigatto, Mandug, Callawa and Fatima bypass road is also ongoing.
