On seizing your moment

-

IGOT a wrist tattoo last Tuesday. It was sort of a spur-of-the-momentbut-not-really thing, as I have been wanting to get a tattoo since my med school days. Yup, I’ve wanted it for that long! I’ve always planned on having it done but there were moments when I just felt it was best to abandon it. I wasn’t the young ‘me’ anymore and people would probably find it ridiculous but hey, do I really care what they say? I already have blue violet hair, what’s an additional tattoo?? So, off I went!

I have to admit though, that I had a (very) brief moment of dilly-dallying. I was momentarily concerned with how other people’s possible negative comments that kept running through my head faster than I could catch my breath, so to speak.

We dwell on those things more than we should sometimes. Or worse, we may be stuck with caring too much about what other people may say. It is all good, if you ask me. After all we belong to a society and each society has its accepted norms. We are all aware of that, aren’t we? A guide will always be helpful but in no means should it be the “be all” of whatever it is we want or need to do. As much as society would want us to conform to its set standards, we do have our own comfort zones that need keeping. Right? That inner voice will never stop letting you know what your heart desires, and what your soul needs, no matter how outrageous or seemingly mundane or childish it is to others. Believe me. Hehe.

There are things we just need to do. It does not need any excuses nor does it require any explanation. It just is and I hope you too, like me, will come around to that point when you become brave enough to just let it be. I am riding on soulful high, having done something I have always wanted for so long! It is true what they say, it feels good to be able to do something for yourself because you deserve to come first!

Drown out the noise and listen to what your heart and soul is telling you. I know it may sound cheesy and overly melodramatic but truth be told, we turn to mush over these things! Aminin! Don’t become too concerned what other people say because everyone will always have an opinion but make it sound like it is your truth! I have always believed that as long as you’re not stepping anyone’s toes, you’re good to go! Just practice the fine art of dedma and not really care what other people say!

Just be happy really. Enjoy the moment. Appreciate what comes and goes. Hope for the best and try not to expect. I now have a seven colored tattoo of the word ‘believe’ on my left wrist. No, it does not follow the ROY G BIV colors of the rainbow because I make my own rainbows. you can too! Happy Sunday Everyone! :)
