A special election will be held after the Kadayawan festivities to fill the vacant positions in the city’s Association of Barangay Captains (ABC).

After 5-A Bankerohan barangay Captain Edgar Ibuyan, Sr. was named ABC president last August 7, 2018, the auditor and his former position as vice president are still vacant.

Earlier, Department of Internal and Local Government (DILG) city director Vicky Sarcena said a special election on the two positions will be held as provided in the resolution from the National League of Barangays.

“Kung ang mag-file kay naa sa board, mag-resign siya pag mag aspire pa siya ug laing position (If a member of the Board will aspire for a different position and file for candidacy, he or she will need to resign),” Ibuyan said during an interview with Sun.Star Davao yesterday.

Ibuyan was also recognized yesterday by the Davao City government during the flag ceremony.

He said he will focus on the medical needs and provide more slots for scholarships of the residents in every barangay.

However, he said that every barangay has different needs and problems to resolve so he plans to convene all barangay captains to plan.

The auditor and vice president position have been vacant since July 30, 2018. The posts were vacant since no one ran for the position.
