Obu Manovu tribe leads early going of the annual Dula Kadayawan 2018 that stakes bigger cash prizes to overall winners

The Obu Manovu Tribe kicked off to a rousing start in the much-awaited Dula Kadayawan 2018 that formally opened at the People's Park in Davao City yesterday.

After six of the 10 tribal games that were conducted, the Obu Manovu tallied a total of 40 points including three points in siklot, nine points in solopot, six points in pana (bow and arrow), one point in kakasing and 13 points in totaringki.

The Ata Tribe trailed in close second, garnering 32 points while Bagobo Klata (28), Matigsalog (17) and Bagobo Tagabawa (16) grabbed the next three places.

Games like sisibow, sosakoro, aakow, bibinayo and tugof-war were still being played as of yesterday presstime.

2018 Kadayawan Festival Executive Committee director Gatchi Gatchalian, Davao City Tourism Operations Office chief Generose Tecson, Davao City administra­tor Zuleika Lopez and Sports Developmen­t Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) chief Michael Denton Aportadera led the opening ceremonies.

Tribal leaders and chieftains of the 11 tribes were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, Moro tribes including Iranun, Kaagan, Maranaw, Maguindana­on and Sama were set to compete in sipa salama, sipa sa manggis, and tug of war.

The overall champion will romp away with a cash prize of P80,000 while the second, third and fourth placers will take home P70,000 and P50,000 and P30,000, respective­ly.

The Moro Games offers P15,000, P10,000 and P8,000 for the first three placers while the fourth and fifth finishers will claim P2,000 each.
