Pamakid, Suarez annex crowns

KARL Rafael Pamakid of Tribu-Tri Right Bukidnon and Pia Suarez of Triathlon Associatio­n of Davao (Triad) annexed titles at the close of the 2018 Kadayawan Triathlon held in an out-andback course from the Villa Josefina in Toril, Davao City over the weekend.

Pamakid, a Philippine junior elite who vied in Mt. Mayon Triathlon Asia a week ago in Albay, finished the 750-meter swim, 1.5-kilometer bike and 300m run sprint race in one hour, 11 minutes and 20 seconds to emerge the male overall champion in the event organized by Tri Right Mindanao in partnershi­p with the Sports Developmen­t Division-City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO).

Philippine junior elites Justice Wee of GRSL (1:13:30) and Alvin Joseph Nolasco of Tri Generals (1:14.35) finished at second and third, respective­ly.

Davao City pride Suarez, meanwhile, ruled the distaff side by clocking 1:22:28, beating Annika Diandra Gregorio of GRSL (1:25:23) and Sophia Gabrielle Muñoz of Tri Right Mindanao (1:26:39).

Alexander Sarenas (swim) and Franz Kenji Vilela (bike) of Trigh Right Davao and Run Out of Poverty (ROOP) runner Norman Luardo (run) topped the relay event.

The other top finishers were former SEA Games veteran Jose Joaquin Gonzales (1:14:58, male 25-29 years old), Bart Demafeliz of Dragons del Sur (1:16:10, male 35-39 years old), Elmer Davo of Tri Davsur (1:16:18, male 30-35 years old), Jose Arao of Tri Kids Davao (1:16:30, male 16-19 years old), Elmer Paluga (1:22:47, male 40-44 years old), Ira Kaye Bragat (1:27:39, female 16-19 years old), Mark Oliver Kong of Trisibots (1:32:15, male 45-49 years old) and Miki Tirol of Orangutri (1:32:31, female 30-34 years old).
