PRO 11 TO EXPAND OPLAN KALINAW
Newly installed PRO 11 regional director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales wants to replicate DCPO’s programs to other areas in the region
With the success of Oplan Kalinaw of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Police Regional Office (PRO 11) regional director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales said he plans to expand the program to other provinces to lower the crime rate in the region.
“Yong Oplan Kalinaw, maganda ang concept niya kasi interagency yong kanilang approach at combination of soft and hard approaches so left hand and right hand. E-enhance ko pa yon para lalong maging effective. Hindi lang sa Davao City kundi sa ibang probinsya sa region 11 kasi Davao City lang ata ang nag-iimplement ng ganong program. So plano kong i-expand siya sa mga probinsiya dito sa region 11,” Morales said yesterday.
Oplan Kalinaw, a comprehensive effort to counter terrorism and anti-criminality operations including identification, background check and profiling of transient residents in urban communities and manhunt operations of wanted persons or fugitives hiding in urban communities, also includes community service for residents.
Security forces also stepped up community outreach or free medical checkup and giving of medicines with vitamins and community empowerment through crime prevention education.
Morales added that they will likewise include the campaign on the full enforcement of the ordinances of different local government units (LGUs) in Davao region because it is also a way of crime prevention.
They will also enforce curfew for minors who are mostly involved in petty crimes but left unpunished because of the existing law.
“Itong gagawin naming Oplan Kalinaw is makakatulong na hindi na lumala ang crime situation so we expect na makakatulong ito sa pagbaba ng crime rate,” he said.. /
