As the talk on Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law continues, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that the additional P200 under unconditional cash transfer (UCT) program is a 'big' help to the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the government.

Florame Espada, Information Officer II of Pantawid Pamilya, said during an interview with Sun. Star Davao yesterday, that there are a total of 227,900 households who are active beneficiaries in region 11 and are believed to be affected by the increase of prices of basic commodities and goods.

Espada also said that UCT is a program of the DSWD to shield the poorest families from the effects of Train Law, and it was given to them along with their regular monthly financial assistance.

Meanwhile, Espada said that they are focusing on efficiency and sustainability of the program.

"Effective ang 4Ps kay naa man tay conditionalities. So makita nato na ang mga bata, nag-eskwela gyud (The 4Ps is effective because we have conditionalities which includes the need for children to go to school)," Espada said, adding that households receive cash grants if children stay in school and get regular health checkup, have their growth monitored and receive vaccines.

“Ang ginabuhat nato is dili lang gyud cash grant kay kung tan-awon nato, gamay ra gyud kaayo ang amount (What we are doing now is not only providing cash grants because if we look at it, it is only a small amount),” she said, adding that DSWD partners with agencies and provide livelihood to beneficiaries.

She also urged the public to reach DSWD through their municipal links in barangays or through their social media if they have queries about 4Ps. /
