EX-CON KILLED IN SHOOTOUT

Ex-convict previously arrested for involvemen­t in illegal drugs. When he got out of jail, he went back to his old ways.

An ex-convict, who was involved in illegal drugs, was killed in a shootout during a buy-bust operation on Sunday, August 26, after he allegedly fought back with the operating police in Barangay 76-A, Davao City.

Police Regional Office (PRO 11) spokespers­on Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz identified the suspect as Rico Ainin Doldolia alias Rico, a resident of Barangay 21-C Piapi, Bouleverd Davao City, an ex-convict for his involvemen­t in illegal drugs, illegal possession of firearm and alleged robbery cases in the City.

Driz added that he was included on the lists of drug personalit­ies who surrendere­d to the police and was involved in two drug cases and robbery case.

“Doldolia might had noticed that the person he transacted with is a member of a Drug Enforcemen­t Team. He suddenly drew his concealed firearm from his right pants pocket and fired towards PO1 Lagura but his back-up PO 1 Leparto defended him, prompting Doldolia to (engage a) shootout with the police," Driz said.

Recovered from the suspect's possession were two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one P1,000 bill, one disposable ligther and one piece of blade.

At the crime scene, authoritie­s seized one unit of homemade 9mm Taurus, a revolver cylinder loaded with three live ammunition, two pieces of fired cartridges and five pieces of fired cartridges believed to be from 9mm pistol. /
