UP MINDANAO HOLDS RESEARCH REVIEW
Research productivity of University of the Philippines Mindanao Office of Research performing better than average among UP constituent universities.
University of the Philippines Mindanao Office of Research held its In-house R&D Research Review on August 8, 2018 before invited peer reviewers Ar. Iluminado Quinto of University of Mindanao, Dr. Mervin Gascon and Dr. Samuel Mamora of University of Southeastern Philippines, Dr. Doris Montecastro of Ateneo de Davao University, and Dr. Louella Cabahug of Central Mindanao University.
The research presentations were: "Reconnaissance of palm trees" by Prof. John Bengan, "Christianity among the Matigsalog" by Prof. Janus Cabazares, "Urban and spatial morphology of Mintal" by Prof. Jean Juanga, "Dance notation of Ata-Manobo dances" by Instructor Jezreel Abarca, and "Callus induction for coconut" by Prof. Cyrose Millado.
Other presentations are made by "Rotavirus A in pig farms" by Mr. Michael Bacus, "Consumption of vegetables by children" by Prof. Aileen Delima, "Contamination on banana peels and its suitability for value-added product" by Prof. Dominica Dacera, "Characterization of sago via rDNA Internal Transcribed Sequences" by Prof. Delima, "Production of coastal fishes for 'amihan' and summer seasons" by Prof. Leo Estaña, "Anti-microbial films" by Prof. Noreen Fundador, "Effect of processing on the nutrient content of corn" by Prof. Jennifer Fronteras, "Flora and fauna in the campus" by Prof. Marion Achondo, and "Bio-physical characterization of UP Marilog Land Reservation" by Prof. Nilo Oponda.
Awarded for Best Presentations were Prof. Bengan and Prof. Fundador. Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion, in her Welcome Remarks, disclosed that research productivity of UP Mindanao was better than the average among the UP constituent universities, based on the recent UP Strategic Planning reports. /
