Army reservist, drug suspect killed in op

A Philippine Army reservist and his cohort, who is a drug pusher, were killed in a shootout during a buy bust operation Monday evening at Belisario Village, Barangay San Antonio, Agdao, Davao City.

Based on the police report from Sta. Ana Police Station, their personnel conducted the anti-drug operation at around 9:15 p.m. on August 27 against suspects identified as Jaime Onain Moin alias Alex, a Philippine Army Reservist and a resident of Landmark, Buhangin, Davao City and his companion Alvin Musa Daris who lives in Sapheri Landmark, Buhangin, Davao City.

The operation was conducted when one of the operatives stood as the poseur-buyer and transacted with the slain suspects. The cop purchased one sachet containing suspected shabu.

However, after the suspect sensed that they are selling illegal drugs to a policeman and when the latter identified himself, Moin pulled his .45 caliber pistol firearm and aimed at the operative, prompting the police to shoot him.

Likewise, the other suspect resisted and withdrew his .38 caliber pistol and aimed it towards the police officer but it misfired, paving the way for arresting police to shoot him first.

Recovered during the operation were a sachet of shabu with an estimated weight of 2.075 grams worth P13,000 and the firearms used by the suspect, one piece Gold Cup Nation Match .45 cal pisol bearing serial # 257856 loaded with five ammos; one magazine; one sling bag containing assorted IDs and documents; one homemade .38 cal revolver loaded with three live ammunition; one misfired ammunition; one sling bag containing assorted IDs; and six pieces of fired shells believed to be 9mm caliber. These are now under the custody of the Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO 11). /
