Prices of veggies, fruits stable

The prices of selected vegetables and fruits remained stable as of Tuesday based on the price monitoring conducted at Bankerohan Public Market.

Some of the vendors charged at a per small plate basis, while some charged per kilo.

One vendor charged P10 per small plate, depending on the size of the vegetable for tomatoes and red onions, while another charged P55 per kilograms (kg) of tomatoes and P110/kg of red onions.

Similar products sold at per small plate are the chili, garlic, and ginger which are sold at P10 to P5 per small plate depending on the size of the products while the garlic and the ginger is sold at around P90/kg and P65/kg to P70/kg respective­ly.

Potatoes are sold at P10 per plate and P50/kg while Pechay is sold at P5/small plate and P60/kg.

The cucumber’s price per kilogram on the other hand, ranges from P30/kg to P50/ kg while its price per piece on most of the stalls in the market is at P10 while the carrots’ price per kilogram ranges from P65/ kg to P70/kg.

For the cabbage, vendors sell it depending on the size with some selling their vegetables for P60/kg and other vendors with bigger cabbages sell theirs for P80/kg.

The malunggay’s price is similar around the stalls in the market which is at P5 per bundle to P10/bundle

According to one vendor, the reason for the stability of prices is due to the abudance of supply.

Another vendor shared that this week’s prices are the same as last week’s but they expect these prices to increase next month.

For the fruits vendor sell their product at a per kilogram and most of the prices are similar from stall to stall.

For the watermelon­s, the price is P30/kg from almost all of the stores, while the pomelo varies differentl­y from store to store depending on the size of the fruit. Some vendors sell smaller pomelos for around P40/kg to P50/kg.

The price of oranges remains to range from P15 to P25 per piece depending on its size. The price of lakatan also remains to be at P45/kg; cavendish at P25/ kg; and saba at P12/kg.

Meanwhile, the mangosteen’s prices range from around P40/kg to P55/kg. However, some vendors have began to increase the prices of the mangosteen to P70/kg from P30/kg.
