DAVAO CITY RIDERS RULE

Dabawenyo riders remain a force to reckon with as they dominate anew a recent bikefest here

Cyclists from Davao City emerged big winners pocketing cash prizes and trophies in the recently-concluded 1st Kadayawan Mountain Bike Short Track Challenge in Barangay Langub and Ma-a trails.

A total of 168 riders from Mindanao competed in the 15-kilometer single track event with downhill ride of 10 percent.

Riders from Philippine Army (PA), Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) dominated the “Government Employee” category.

Capt. Alan Apara, 38, of the Philippine Army bagged the first prize while PO2 John Lowel Monares, 32, of the PNP placed second and Harvey Bryan Malnegro, 33, of BJMP finished third.

The Purple Health Hub TriDavao Northside Bikers (PHH TRI DNSB) won the biggest delegation award earning P3,000 cash and a trophy.

fat boys category - Orlando Sabijon Sr. of Davao City, first, Lester Congson of General Santos City second and

Carl John Fernandez of Davao City third.

Open elite - Rodel Villaber of Kidapawan City first, April John Maniyog of Kapalong, Davao del Norte second and Albert Placibe of Davao City third; juniors Clinton Monsing of Davao City first, Glenn John Mondares of Polomolok, South Cotabato second and Jayson Caceres of Davao City third; seniors -Melchor Labaya Jr. of Davao City first, Reymond Madera of Davao City second, and

Elbert Principe of Pikit, North Cotabato third;

Veterans - Dominador Garcia of Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindana­o first, Marvin Villancio of Davao City second,

Daniel Tapao of General Santos City third; masters Noel Oyson of Antipas, Cotabato first, Dominic Carpio of Davao City second and Carlofer Salonga of Davao City third; youth - Dabawenyos Francis Jay Guilaran first, Judex Jay Sagayle second and Mario Buro III third.

The 1st Kadayawan Mountain Bike Short Track Challenge was organized by Tropang Trumpo Davao Bikers Associatio­n in partnershi­p with RaceLink Promotions and supported by the Sports Developmen­t Division of the City Mayor’s Office of Davao City, Ma-a Central Elementary School, Barangay Ma-a and Barangay Langub. The event was sponsored by Nissan MG Gateway South Corporatio­n, The Boatman Outdoors, Superstar Coconut Products Co., White Dove Cooking Oil, DAPOBA, EZ Ride Cycle Center, Balik Bukid, Alamat Bike and Sagarino Scrap Dealer.
