Valued advertisers and readers of SunStar Davao are upbeat about the new SunStar Davao design

For 23 years now, SunStar Davao had been providing the Dabawenyos with the latest news and trends. This year, with the mission in mind to still provide its readers the content they need and want to read, SunStar Davao went Compact with an Impact.

The size of the newspaper is a tad smaller than its previous version and the layout was adapted after the layout of SunStar Cebu with its elements and designed created by artist Adonis Dorado himself. The changes were done in order to make the newspaper handier while making sure the contents are more organized for better reading experience. At the same time, the photos are much larger to better complement the articles.

When the new layout was officially launched with its first issue on August 8, 2018, it shocked the Dabawenyo readers and the advertisers in a good way. Most of them were very much fond of the new layout and pointed out that it’s much neater than the previous layout.

Here are what some of our dear advertisers and avid readers have to say about SunStar Davao’s new Compact with an Impact layout:

“Our company is well-advertised because of SunStar. I like SunStar’s new layout because it’s well laid out and it’s colorful and it’s not cluttered. It is very organized,” said GH Office Depot owner Paul Go.

“SunStar Davao has helped us a lot in disseminating information about anything new for Santos Land. The layout is good, very good because it is compact. The contents are arranged well,” said Santos Land Development Corporation (SLDC) Sales and Marketing Manager Estella Aguilos.

“They have provided me the right exposure of all my projects. It has all the news I need to know everyday,” said Suntrust’s Regional Operations Assistant Vice President Leonora P. Gutierrez.

“We have always valued our professional relationship with our media partners. SunStar in particular has been a vital ally in promoting Matina Enclaves and ESDEVCO as a local proponent. I think that its desire to help promote our business is key to the development of mutual trust and confidence, which we enjoy now. I hope it remains to be one of our key mediums to advertise Esdevco and its future projects,” said Gerald M. Garces, Matina Enclaves Project Director.

Chamber of Real Estate and Builders’ Associations (CREBA) Davao Chapter President Maria Luisa R. Abaya also had something good to say over the years of working with SunStar Davao.

“They are very professional like coming on time for events and engagements even on short notice, sending credible reporters, innovative in their approach and sincere in providing customer service. Actually my best take in working with SunStar Davao is not only the professional business relationship but most staff are now my valued friends. Congratulations! I wish you more awards and the best of times for the print media industry!” she said.

On the other hand, Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. Chief Communications Officer and Marketing Head Melissa J. Crucillo congratulates SunStar Davao for its 23rd anniversary. “Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation has enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with SunStar Davao that I feel stems from a shared interest to contribute to the progress and development of Davao and a desire to elevate the city as a tourist destination. I have had nothing but the greatest respect for the SunStar team and will always be grateful for their support, their belief in our projects, and for their continued friendship,” she said.

Brand and Marketing Assistant of Grand Land, Inc. Noel Jan Te, for his part, said, “Though SunStar Davao might

have changed their look and feel, they remain to provide, not just quality journalism through the years, but also space for businesses like us to have a focused approach into advertising. We look forward to another successful year of doing business with the company.”

We also asked avid readers who were just as happy as the new layout as our advertisers are.

“For me, it’s more organized than the layout before and it’s more handy. It gives readers a better experience,” said Maiquel Jawn Selga, SEA Games women’s wakeboarding bronze medalist.

Rebekah Gail Celis, SunStar Davao Intern from Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), also thinks that the new design is very trendy. “It’s very clear – the photos and the typography. It’s very neat. Mas makita talaga ng readers ang content,” she added.

Sydonnie Madera, also SunStar Davao’s intern said that although the articles were shorter, she found out that all the needed information are already there.

SunStar Davao columnist Apple Alvarez whose article appears weekly in the lifestyle section was also happy with the new layout together with her colleagues from (AdDU).

“Yung bago na format po nagustuhan ng mga tao. Masyado daw malinis. Ang ganda ng feedback here sa Ateneo! Congrats!,” she said.

Jinggoy Salvador, one of the lifestyle columnists, as well liked the new compact layout similar to SunStar Cebu.

“I saw the format in Cebu and wondered when Davao will apply it. It’s now in effect and I like the compact form, the concise stories in it and magazine-like layout of the pages. It’s very attractive,” he said.
