Davao City’s ongoing investment and tourism roadshows in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore will be an avenue to increase the tourist arrival and possible future investments to the city.

This is according to Davao City Tourism Operation Office (CTOO) head Generose Tecson, saying the city-initiated event which started on September 24 to 29 will be attended by Davao city delegates.

“Eto rin ay way natin to also be seen in the international scene kung saan na pwede natin mapromote ang Davao city as good tourist spot, or even maging gateway rin sa ibang magagandang lugar sa region (This is a way to also be seen in the international scene where we can promote Davao City as a good tourist spot, or even a gateway to other places in the region),” Tecson said in an interview.

Tecson added that during the roadshow, the City Tourism Office will highlight the beauty of the nature side of Davao city amidst its growing economic status.

“Syempre so by then, pagdating ng mga tourist sa city and after nila maexperience ang city they can go to Samal and pwede i-enjoy ang beach. Sa ganitong way, hindi lang Davao city ng nakakabenefit pati rin other provinces (Of course, by then when tourist arrive in the city and after they experience the city they can go to Samal and enjoy the beach. In this way, Davao city is not only benefitting but also other provinces),” Tecson said.

Tecson added that with the ongoing development of the city ordinance on Halal business hubs, this can even more entice Malaysian tourist to have a more memorable experience in the city.

“We have actually a city map kung saan may nakalagay na pork-free establishment para naman sa mga Muslim tourists (We have actually a city map which has a sign on pork-free establishments for our Muslim tourists),” Tecson said.

Presently, based from CTOO’s data for 2018 Singapore has 3,268 tourist arrivals while Malaysia has 1,758 tourist arrivals.
