Dear Ms. Stella,
Iread your article on “Living life as a citizen” and I just had to write you immediately. I retired on Oct. 2016 and moved to Davao City on the same month. I have been telling my neighbor friends in the subdivision I live in the same thing your article addressed.
I was really hoping that when President Duterte was elected President that the majority of Filipinos would see his administration to be the start of a new era for the Philippines... an era that would positively change the Philippine landscape into a country that most Filipinos (especially OFWs) yearn for.
Though not “perfect”, FINALLY, we have an administration that is truly working for the country. However, after two years of Pres. Duterte’s administration, it is sad to see that the Filipino citizens expect for the President and his cabinet to single-handedly fix all problems the country has. Instead of supporting and being unified nationally to make the Philippines a better place, the Filipinos seem to forget or either don’t understand that for the country to move forward that they play a huge role in getting the Philippines to where it should be... the government cannot do it alone.
This administration has “moved forward” for the nation compared to past administrations. We are now being given a golden opportunity to change... change for the better... so what are the Filipinos waiting for? Are they simply happy with the status quo?
Sincerely yours,
Villarosa
