ORIENTATION OF NEW CITY SCHOLARSHIP GRANTEES
A total of 144 city scholarship grantees attended their orientation held at the Samal Cultural Gymnasium. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to underprivileged but deserving students.
Island Garden City of Samal - The Public Employment Services Section headed by Florencio Thaddeus Valera, Peso executive assistant IV, under the City Mayor’s office conducted an orientation to the new grantees of the City Scholarship Program last September 17, 2018 held at the Samal Cultural Gymnasium.
The Comprehensive Scholarship Program is aimed to provide financial aid to the underprivileged but deserving students as a mechanism to fight against poverty.
There were 39 students from Babak District, 31 students from Samal District, and 44 from Kaputian district who attended the orientation together with their parents.
A total of 144 grantees are recipient of the scholarship program of the city for 2018.
The comprehensive scholarship program grantees are those deserving high school graduates from public and private secondary schools of the city who are yearning to take up baccalaureate degree and or technical or vocational courses. The coverage of the program is available to the current (regular), past (out-of-school), Lumads, Muslims and Alternative Learning System (ALS) graduates who are permanent resident of the city.
A scholarship grant shall be a total amount of P10,000per semester as educational financial assistance to the underprivileged student.
Aside from the orientation, formal signing of the memorandum of joint undertaking of scholars was also facilitated by the members of the city scholarship committee.
