LAZADA OPENS FIRST WAREHOUSE IN MINDANAO
Lazada gears up for 11.11 online shopping festival as it opens its Mindanao warehouse.
With the goal of bringing effortless shopping to online consumers in Mindanao, Lazada Philippines has opened its first warehouse in Davao City on Wednesday, October 3.
Situated along Diversion Road in Barangay Buhangin, the newly-inaugurated facility can store a total of 250,000 items, with the ability to send out 25,000 items to customers daily. The warehouse will carry products from Lazada’s official brand-partners such as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, JBL, Philips, Bosch, Mac, L’Oreal, Dove, Olay and Levis among others. With this new warehouse and the help of major third-party logistics partners, online shoppers in Mindanao can receive their purchases within three days.
“Our new warehouse provides our sellers a distribution hub in a high-potential region, allowing Lazada to fulfill more orders from and to Mindanao faster and more efficiently,” Juan Pavez, CEO of Lazada eLogistics (LeL) Philippines said.
At present, close to 500 businesses based in Mindanao participate in the Lazada online marketplace. From its current volume, the new Lazada warehouse is expected to double the number of its shipments to and from Mindanao before the end of 2018. With this, Lazada gears up for the fast-approaching 11.11 online shopping festival – where sales are expected to boom up to 10x more than an ordinary day’s sale.
As more Filipinos shop online, Lazada Philippines expects a subsequent rise in the demand for more efficient and reliable warehousing, delivery and other logistics services. In parallel, the newly opened warehouse aims to support the growth of e-commerce in Mindanao.
“How many times in your life do you get to see the sunrise of a new industry? This is just the beginning of eCommerce... and Davao is part of this now. As pioneers here, we promise you, we will grow together,” said Ray Alimurung, CEO of Lazada Philippines. /
