More big-ticket projects eyed

Aboitiz Group continues to offer services which will help improve the power industry situation in the country, Mindanao particularly.

In a speech, Jaime Jose Y. Aboitiz, AboitizPower Distribution Group executive vice president and chief operating officer, said Aboitiz is gearing towards establishing big ticket projects.

“We continue to expand our generation portfolio in Mindanao, anchored on our balanced mix strategy. Hedcor Bukidnon will soon start the commercial operations of its 69-Megawatt run of river hydro power plant in Manolo Fortich. This plant will deliver renewable power to 10 distribution utilities and electric cooperatives in the island,” Aboitiz said in his opening speech during Mindanao Media Party on October 5, 2018 at SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City.

Aboitiz’s distribution utilities like Davao Light and Cotabato Light are also gearing towards robust economic growth by ensuring power is being delivered reliably and cost-effective to Mindanawon customers.

“In Davao City we have started the next stages of our underground distribution system in partnership with the local government unit and other utility providers. Our immediate goal is to transfer some six circuit kilometers of overhead lines underground from CM Recto Street up to Quirino Avenue. This project will cost more than P1 billion,” Aboitiz said.

The power firm is also finalizing their permits in building one of the country’s largest private bulk water supply projects.

“Once operational, we will be able to provide Davao City with a sustainable potable water supply for its growing population,” Aboitiz said.

He added that the company continues to come up with projects for the community.

“Together, we create a viable platform towards ensuring that our growth and the pursuit of reasonable returns on our investments yields actions and decisions that benefit not only our shareholders, but all levels of society at large,” Aboitiz added.
