DMMA: YEARS OF QUALITY EDUCATION
Colorful confettis were dancing in the air like they are following the rhythm of music that night. A symbol of celebration and a mark of looking back from 25 years ago where the DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP) started building a dream that could also help build other people’s dreams.
Last Friday, October 12, 2018, DCSP celebrated its silver anniversary at the Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City where it showed the journey of the college in 1993 to where it is right now. It was evidently showing succes, however, the Chairman of the Board, Captain Rogelio Paramio, said they are still looking forward to keep up with the advent of technology and invest on it.
“From now on, as we celebrate our 25 years founding anniversary, we look forward to keeping up with the latest trends of education. With the advent of technology, we see more improvements, more latest equipment,” Paramio said, adding that they always upgrade their facilities and system to improve not only the school but the quality of life of its students, employees, and all those affected in all its sphere of operation.
The struggles are there, then and now. And all the lessons learned out of it made the college stronger and bigger through the years.
DCSP, first known as Davao Merchant Marine Academy (DMMA), has indeed achieved a remarkable growth as described by College President Lorenzo Edwin Eusebio.
“It is hard to believe that it has been 25 years since a little more of an idea from a group of seafarers would engage and commit themselves to establish an institution,” Eusebio said.
He said the school has surpassed trials through the hardwork of the people behind it, thus, during the event, DCSP acknowledged the contributors to make the college what it is today.

The event ended with a ceremonial toast led by the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Councilor Al-Ryan Alejandre.
The college is now encouraging aspring seafarers to enroll as it has been teaching more than what the books could offer to more than 2,000 students at present.
“For those aspiring to be part of DMMA in the future, we have a lot of partner companies for future cadetship,” Paramio said.
“We invite those who have the sincerity and dedication, those who desire to finish the course and get employment,” he added.
