DREAM CAKES FOR THE SWEET TOOTH

- BY JENNIE P. ARADO /

Food trend spreads fast with almost everyone online nowadays. What is popular to a certain place may not surprisingly be popular in the coming weeks in another place as well. Recently, the dream cake is the newest addition to this food trend craze.

Home-based bakers and even coffeeshop have started selling dream cakes, attracting the sweets lovers online.

In Davao City, couple Neil Camacho and Lovelia Jimenez, who also had a background in pastry making, decided to venture into Dream Cake making as well.

In the Philippines, it first went popular in Manila.

The other cities in the country then followed in this popularity. With the Filipinos as natural sweet lovers, it was easy to get us into trying this new trend.

Lovelia said this cake is also known as Crack Cake, called as such because of the cracks made of its surface layer once a spoon was dipped deep into it.

It's easy to fall in love with this new cake of hard crust with oozing chocolate (or matcha) underneath. This business of the couple had just started and yet the orders from individual customers and coffee shops keep on coming. Because of this success, Neil said they are thinking of a new innovation unique only to them.

Although there are a number of Dream Cakes nationwide, Neil said starting next week, they will be the only ones to offer Charcoal Dream Cake.

This particular dream cake will be made of activated charcoal and thus very safe to be eaten.

For orders, Neil and Lovelia can be contacted through 0919-384-0261.
