P67-M FMR improves town’s economic activities
Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental - Locals of Bgry. Mapurog can now travel with ease after the P67 million farm-to-market road (FMR) was officially turned over to the Municipality of Bonifacio.
“It has been always a dream for us to have a well-paved road here and now we can see that our local government unit and our barangay really work hard to have this project through PRDP,” said Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives (IPMR) Charlie Torres.
Torres recalled the difficulty of their lives before because of long travel time going to the town market. But after the completion of FMR in their community, they now have better means of transportation.
“Before, when we go to Bonifacio town to buy fresh fish it takes us whole day and the moment we return home, the fish was already rotting or no longer fresh,” said Torres.
“But now that this road was open, fish vendors come up here in our barangay to sell fresh fish and other products,” added Torres.
The turnover ceremony conducted last September 15, 2018 was by attended Assistant Regional Director and Deputy Project Director Engr. Roxana H. Hojas in behalf of Regional Director and PRDP Project Director Carlene C. Collado with Bonifacio Municipal Mayor Samson R. Dumanjug and Mis. Occ. 2nd District Representative Henry S. Oaminal.
