TRAINING FOR HAIR DRESSING, MASSAGE THERAPY CONDUCTED

Island Garden City of Samal - The city government here spearheade­d by its Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in partnershi­p with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted training for Hair Dressing NCII and Massage Therapy NCII for semi-skilled Samaleño workers.

The training will be able to help the Samaleños become productive and earn additional income, and also to boost the eco-tourism industry of the local communitie­s in the island.

The starter kits for both hairdressi­ng and massage therapy were given last October 22, 2018 at the Samal Cultural Gymnasium, Brgy. Peñaplata, Samal Island.

The training was aimed to create, sustain and retain a viable workforce in order for the community to achieve social and economic prosperity, as well as to help people find job and secure the skilled employees they need for the business enterprise­s.

It was also an open access to job opportunit­ies by ensuring that all skills training is equally participat­ed by all gender, race, tribes, and ages prioritizi­ng the marginaliz­ed group such as outof-school youth (OSY), persons with disabiliti­es (PWD) and Indigenous People (IPs).

Participan­ts of the training came from the 46 barangays of the three districts of the island, namely, Babak, Samal and Kaputian. The starter kit project was through the initiative of City Mayor Al- David T. Uy. /
