The Division 7 of the Kiwanis International Philippine South District in Davao City turned over its leadership to 2018-2019 Lieutenant Governor, Engr. Erdsan Rene S. Suero during its recently concluded Turnover of Division Leadership and Club Ceremonies held at the Grand Regal Hotel.

Guest of honor was none other than Koronadal City Mayor and Kiwanis PSD Governor Dr. Peter B. Miguel.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child, one community at a time.

It was founded on January 21, 1915 by Joseph C. Prance and Allen S. Browne in Detroit, Michigan, United States and can be found in 80 nations and geographic areas with international headquarters at Indianapolis, Indiana, United States.

Kiwanis is currently administered by Filipino International President Florencio C. Lat.

LG Suero, the charter president of the Kiwanis Club of Agila Dabaw, receives the symbolic gong and gavel from his predecessor, Immediate Past Lt. Gov. Lorna Lui-Go from the Kiwanis Club of Golden Tagum.

In his acceptance speech, LG Suero said he will focus his term to strengthen each club and retention of its members. As leaders, he said “we need to take actions because the underprivileged kids need Kiwanis. Every generation builds a road for the next, the road has been built for us and it is incumbent upon us in our generation to build the road for the next.”

Governor Miguel on the other hand associated his challenge to the current Kiwanis International dictum dubbed as “Growing Kiwanis from Good to GREAT!”

He said each letter in the word GREAT exemplifies the present direction of the organization which means G – grow membership and bridge the gap, R – revitalize Kiwanis image, E – enhance Kiwanis education, A- address relevant issues, and T – terminate dependence on membership dues.
