ARENA-11 PLANTS TREES IN CESB 45TH ANNIVERSARY

-

The Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies (Arena) 11 recently spear headed a tree planting activity in Brgy. Lasang, Bunawan District, Davao City in commemoration of the 45th Founding Anniversary of Career Executive Service Board (CESB).

A total of 400 Macarthur’s Palm seedlings were planted in Brgy. Lasang by the regional directors and selected employees from the different national government agencies.

The urban greening activity was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 11 which is also part of its Enhanced National Greening Program or eNGP and in line with the priority programs of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ruth M. Tawantawan who is also the vice president of

Arena 11, said that aside from celebrating CESB’s anniversary, the purpose of the urban greening activity is to help the city government sustain Davao City’s status as Air Quality Champion.

Last November 2017, the Clean Air Philippines Movement Inc. (CAPMI) declared Davao City as a Clean Air City and gave recognition to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio and the City Council as Clean Air Champion.

Tawantawan added that urban greening can also help abate noise pollution as study shows that a 30-meter width woodlands could reduce the noise created by vehicles and industries by 5 to 10 decibels.

On the other hand, Arena 11 President and Regional Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim of the National Economic Development Agency (Neda) 11 said that the activity is extra special as it gives CESO members the opportunity to contribute towards the preservation and enhancement of green spaces in Davao City.
