P5-M DAMAGED IN FIRE

The fire razed a portion of a market and nearby establishm­ents during All Soul's Day in Talaingod, Davao del Norte

Sixteen establishm­ents were razed during a fire incident on All Soul’s Day at Purok 1, barangay Sto. Niño, old Public Market, Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

The fire resulted to an estimated damage of around P5 million worth of properties.

Based on the report of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11, about 4:35 p.m. on Friday, Talaingod Municipal Office received an informatio­n that there was a fire incident in the area.

The initial investigat­ion conducted by Fire Officer (FO2) Noel O. Rivas, chief of the Intelligen­ce Division of Talaingod Fire Station, revealed that the fire started at the residence of a certain Martha Tecson and spread throughout the lower market engulfing 16 other establishm­ents.

The fire investigat­or said the cause of fire was due to electri- cal short circuit. No injuries or fatalities were recorded.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Provincial Welfare and Developmen­t Office (PSWD) of Davao del Norte distribute­d several relief goods consisting of rice and domestic items and cash assistance to 24 affected families of Barangay Sto. Nino. The distributi­on was facilitate­d by Basilio Libayao, Mayor of Talaingod, some members Sanguniang Bayan, former vice Mayor Dondon Gipulla, and Municipal Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office (MSWDO) staff and Sammy Sanchez. /
