Eljune Ayag and Nikki Te top the overall Olympic distance divisions of the 3rd Philippine Eagle Team Championsh­ip Triathlon

Eljune Ayag of 8700 Tri Team and Nikki Te of Trisbots bagged the overall Olympic distance division championsh­ip titles in the 3rd Philippine Eagle Team Championsh­ip Triathlon that closed at Villa Josefina Resort Village in Dumoy, Toril, Davao City over the weekend.

Ayag clocked a total of two hours, 12 minutes and 42 seconds to race past Andrei Sajulga of Caltex Delo Tribu and Christophe­r Eyao of Tri SOS who finished second and third, respective­ly, in overall male category.

Sajulga timed 2:13:11 while Eyao registered 2:16:54 in the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run of the Davao leg organized by Tri Right Mindanao, the grassroots arm of the Triathlon Associatio­n of the Philippine­s for Mindanao, headed by Stax Savellano.

In the distaff side, Te checked in at 2:52:03 to outclass Kimi Jade Wee of GRSL (3:03:15) and Shawn Garcia of Trisibots (3:19:21) who grabbed the next two spots.

Tri Right, for its part, topped the relay team event with a time of 41:59. Swimmer Alec Sarenas timed 21:13 while cyclist clocked 1:08:07 and runner John Paul Piamonte registered 41:59.

Tri Kidaps (2:20:45) of Jed Mearns, Jarmaine Funelas and Matt Louise Gapasin placed second while Trisibots Champaolo (2:29:04) of Glenn Yap, Wesley Bangayan and Paolo Domingo came third.

Meanwhile, kids winners were: six-under male - Cedrick Gloriba first, Sean Hao second, Cal Joseph Regis third; six-under female - Penelope Aubrey Sales first, Ysabella Gimenes second; 7 to 9 male - YouOne Kriven first, Arki Lozano second, Franco Gloriba third; 7-9 female - Eloira Avanzado first, Gillian Delrio second, Catherine Kamdon third; 10-12 male - Juan Suarez first, Matthew Dugaduga second, Christophe­r Te third; 10-12 female - Parisse Orong first, Francesca Caballero second, Aira Danara Gregorio third; 13-15 male - Jan Paul Orong first, Gian Wallace Taylor second, Ralph Pasion third; 1315 female - Aliyah Gregorio first, Christiane­lle Bacus second, Lyf Ashanna Benigno third.

Ferdinand Tugas and Robin Vidal dominated the novice categories.

Godwin Jacob Taylor of Bukids and Pia Suarez of Triad lorded over their sprint male and female 16-24 rivals even as Eric Juban of Tri Davsur and Kristine Joy Sikad Davao governed the male and female 25-34 and Louie Restauro and Edwin Dayao of Tri Kidaps annexed the male 35-44 and 45-55 events.
