JCI awards entreprene­urs

Business leaders in the field of agricultur­e, pharmaceut­icals, and entreprene­urship are the honorees of this year's Leaders and Achiever of Davao (Lead) by the Junior Chamber Internatio­nal ( JCI) Senate Davao.

The following are this year's awardees: for agricultur­e, Ireneo Dalayon, chief executive officer (CEO) of Federation of Cooperativ­es in Mindanao (Fedco); for health and wellness, Gina Marie Espejo, managing director of DMI Medical Supply Company Inc. and owner of the renowned health suppliment—MX3; and for business entreprene­urship and management, Dennis Uy, chairman of Udenna Corporatio­n.

Lead Awards founder and 2003 Davao Jaycee Senate president Manuel “Bobby” Orig underscore­d the importance of recognizin­g Dabawenyo leaders in alleviatin­g the community of Davao into progress and developmen­t through their respective profession­s.

“By establishi­ng the Lead Awards, we were able to give meaning and purpose to the tenets of JCI–that the service to humanity is the best work of life,” Orig said during the Lead Awards ceremony last Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City.

Orig added that he hopes the Lead Awards will be a good platform in enticing more Dabawenyos to search for individual­s and leaders who show dedication in their work and uplifting their fellow Dabawenyos.

The criteria for screening of the candidates include Character, Integrity, and Moral Values; Leadership and embodying the “Leadership Tenets” of JCI; and the candidate's contributi­on and impact to his or her community.

Notable Lead awardees are Margarita Moran-Florentino for the environmen­t sector, Jose Iñigo “Joey” Ayala for music, and Joji Ilagan-Bian for education.

LeaDavao is an annual project of the Davao Jaycee Senate. The Davao Jaycee Senate is an organizati­on of Junior Chamber Internatio­nal ( JCI) members who, in recognitio­n of their outstandin­g achievemen­ts and contributi­on to the JCI movement, have been awarded a lifetime membership as JCI Senators. /
