No contrabands in parcels here

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) Davao City Central Post Office assured that there are no incidents yet of contraband placed inside the parcels or mails, which could be utilized for drug smuggling here.

Arnold M. Hey, Postmaster III of Eastern Mindanao Area, said in a press conference that powder and liquid form of parcels were already restricted.

They have also requested a drug-sniffing K9 dog to detect these smuggled contrabands.

Rey N. Basilan, PHLpost Davao Market Specialist said stringent measures were already taken in the central office where the parcels and mails will be coming from before it will be forwarded to their office.

Before it would even get in the hands of PHLPost, the items will also pass through the screening of the Bureau of Customs to check the parcels.

“Mao gani naay pilferage mahitabo unya i-charge sa Philpost, dili na siya Philpost alone. Niagi gyud na sa Customs labin na og makita nila sa scanner labin na og naay replica didto sa bisan unsang kontrabando ginabuksan gyud na siya (On the issue of pilferage, it’s not only PHLPost’s responsibility. It went through Customs especially if they saw replica of contraband, the parcel will really be opened up),” Basilan said, adding that such action is not illegal as it is only meant for national security.
