The home of the world’s biggest banana plantation is about to celebrate its debut as a city, as Panabo will be marking its 18th cityhood this year. The week-long celebration features a series of exciting activities that will mainly showcase stellar talents, countless opportunities, and superb entertainment.

The celebration will kick-off on March 22, beginning with the State of the City Address (Soca) by Mayor Engr. James G. Gamao at 9am, to be followed by the opening ceremony, Drum & Lyre Competition and opening concert night at Panabo City Gym.

The celebration will end on March 31 with a fireworks display and free concert featuring a popular rock band, which has yet to be announced.

According to Tourism Officer, Cher Bastida, this year’s debut celebration is better than last year, as the Araw ng Panabo Committee is bringing more celebrities and personalities to entertain the Panaboans and visitors.

Moreover, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is set to play at the newly renovated Panabo City Gym on March 16, which is part of the preliminary activities of the Araw ng Panabo.
