7,983 jobs up in May 1 fair

-

The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 11 will open 7,983 job vacancies for both local and overseas during the 2019 Job Fair on May 1 at the Gaisano Mall in J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City.

Dole 11 assistant regional director Lawyer Jason Balais told Sunstar Davao yesterday that this year’s job fair will have a total of 70 employers with 50 based here and 20 from overseas.

A total of 3,301 are local jobs and 4,682 are overseas-based.

Balais said the number of employers decreased this year from 87 in 2018 due to the limited space of the venue that can only accommodate as much as 3,000 job-seekers.

This year, construction workers still topped the most number of job vacancies. A total of 1,452 slots are allotted for carpenters while 192 for masons.

Other top vacancies include 173 production crews, 140 customer service representatives, 135 service crews, 134 sales associates, 117 drivers, 100 field collection officers, 86 mechanics and 62 electricians.

“Atong gihatagan og chance ang mga job-seekers na makit-an ang ilang mga employers sa isa lang ka venue. When we bring the jobs for them, they go to one venue and all the jobs that they might find for themselves are already made available for them. Dili na sila mamasahe unya magbalhin-balhin sa mga employers. It saves time on the part of the job-seekers. Also, on the part of the employers, sa kadaghan sa naglinya diha, they could also find the right people so it is a win-win situation for the job-seekers and employers,” he added.

Dole 11 will conduct a pre-registration and a mini job fair on April 26 to30 to avoid long queue during Labor Day.
