Davao Doctors College (DDC) bets brought home two gold medals and one silver for Davao City in the recently-concluded Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) 11 Regional Meet held at Jose San Pedro gym of the University of Mindanao (UM) Tagum College.

Dave Torres and Roshua Adela Daclan combined forces to clinch the gold in senior modern-standard discipline as teammates Reemo Phet Maceda and Precious Diane Ronda bagged the gold in senior Latin American category.

Seth Adriel Alladin and Ma. Almira Isabel Dumapias settled for silver in the senior modern-standard event.

Maceda, 20, a fourth year Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology student, said, “This year’s Prisaa Meet was quite emotional for me and for my partner because this is our last Prisaa meet together.” He recalled being excited and nervous during the competition as they nailed their fourth Prisaa 11 title.

He said they lacked practice due to hectic class schedule, thus, the win was unexpected.

“We wouldn’t have done it without the help of our coaches and mentors who’ve been there supporting us,” he said.

Ronda, for her part, said that she and her partner rarely could meet to train together being graduating students. “We didn’t expect to bag first place. We managed to overcome those challenges and came up victorious as we danced and just enjoyed every minute of our very last Regional Prisaa meet,” she added.

Torres, meanwhile, said the pressure was tough having to defend their crown. He also said, “It was not an easy win for us because other teams were also prepared and eager to win the title. We will triple our hardworks and efforts for the national Prisaa 2019.”

His partner 18-year-old Daclan also reiterated Torres’ statement, saying that they will do their best in the nationals.

“Since National Prisaa 2019 is fast approaching, we will exert more effort in our training and prepare ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally,” she said.

The National Prisaa Games 2019 is slated May 19 to 24.
