In a bid to promote digital and cashless transactions among cooperatives in the city, the New City Commercial Center (NCCC) has entered a partnership with Traxion for the Ka Partner Program.

Cooperatives may enroll in the program to avail of the KaCoop Card for their members. Cooperatives who are part of the Ka Partner Program will benefit from reduced cost of handling cash loans, online-real time credit line management, contribute data to their member’s credit score, and digital, seamless, cashless shopping. The card comes with QR code.

With this, members of cooperatives who have the card will be able to shop at NCCC malls and retail stores using the card with specific card credit limit depending on the salary. It could also serve as a voucher, rewards and incentives card, and more perks and advantages in the future as the market grow.

“Depende na sa creativity ng management nila ‘yun kung salary deduction ba or payment every 15 or 30 days. Hindi ito individual, kailangan naming kumausap ng business kasi sila ‘yung mag-guarantee kasi this is credit,” TraXiaon CEO Ann Cuisia said.

NCCC chief executive officer (CEO) Lafayette Lim told reporters yesterday, May 21, 2019, that the Ka-Coop Card is now being pilot-tested at NCCC Mall Buhangin in Davao City.

He said while there are no cooperatives that have availed of the Ka-Coop Card yet, some have already expressed interest to avail of the membership.

“The technology is ready, the store is ready. It is just getting the cooperatives to sign up since they have their own structure on how to approve,” Lim said, adding that they are eyeing to onboard at least 550,000 cooperative members in the program.

The card also has a mobile application where the client’s transaction could be seen.

“There is a mobile app but there will probably people who are not comfortable using the app so they can use either the app or the card. Hopefully in the future, if everybody is comfortable with the app na, we will go cardless,” Lim said.

Cuisia said the goal is to provide the members of the cooperatives a felxible option to transact when they purchase items at NCCC.

Other features under the NCCC Ka Partner Programs are the KoopKicks, where NCCC can fund and support aspiring entrepreneurs from the cooperatives; and the KoopMart, where NCCC provides supplies and system to the cooperatives.
