In a span of 3 weeks, police nab 101 drug suspects in 78 illegal drug ops across Davao region
A total of 101 personalities were apprehended for illegal drugs from May 1 to May 19 across the region with the confiscation of almost P1 million worth of illegal drugs.
In a span of three weeks, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 apprehended more than a hundred drug personalities out of the 78 anti-illegal drug operations that the office has conducted. During these operations, three drug suspects were killed after fighting back the raiding team.
PRO 11 regional director Police Brigadier General Marcelo C. Morales said that out of the 101 individuals, 23 of them were listed on the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Drug Watch List.
Breaking down, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) posted the highest number of arrested with 67 drug suspects out of 53 operations conducted; Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO) came in second with 15 arrests out of nine drug operations; Davao Oriental PPO, third, had six operations which resulted in the arrest of nine individuals; Compostela Valley PPO and Davao del Sur PPO tied in last arresting five out of five operations.
The series of operations confiscated a total of 180 sachets of shabu with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P884,000 and several kilos of marijuana with an estimated market value of P4,200.
One of the highlights during this period was the arrest of big-time drug personalities such as Jossone Michael Dayanghirang, 32, son of Governor Nelson Dayanghirang Sr., and his companion, Rojhel Sanchez alias Ivan, 28, manager, and a resident of Matina Aplaya. They were arrested on May 8 at Juna Subdivision in Matina, Davao City with the joint elements of DCPO Intel Branch and Toril Police Station. Confiscated from them were several sachets of shabu with an approximate total weight of 13 grams and an estimated street value of P208,000.
For the 1st quarter of this year, PRO 11 reported that a total of 627 drug personalities out of the 463 anti-illegal drug operations were arrested, higher compared to the same period last year with only 326 arrested drug suspects.
