It was a fun-filled and colorful celebration for the SunStar Davao family during the company Christmas Party of December 7, 2019 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Lanang, Davao City.

Fun conversations and laughs were being shared by team members over the good food the hotel has prepared. For a newspaper company, it is not always that the team is gathered in one location.

New team members had the chance to get to know those who have been in the company for a while and at the same everyone was able to relax from work for a day.

Each department came in their respective colors. Coupled with the colorful decorations and balloons, the Christmas had a casual and fun vibe.

Also joining in the fun in SunStar Davao President Gina G. Atienza and her husband, Caesar Atienza. Former editor-in-chief Stella Estremera and SunStar Management Department head Anthony Onrejas also dropped by. Columnists Imee Garcia, Dr. Fritz Espedilla, and Majal Talento were also present at the Christmas party.

Atienza, in her message, encouraged the SunStar Davao team to do their best as they continue to adapt with the changes in the newspaper industry brought by the digital revolution.

“As the 2019 ends, I just want to remind you all that change is really there we have to adjust with it,” Atienza said.

SunStar Davao, led by its president, has been at the forefront of taking advantage and experimenting with digital media. In recent years, SunStar Davao was able to develop digital content that highlights the different stories of the community it is in.

Meanwhile, each department was also able to showcase its talents in singing and dancing in a group talent contest. While some may have sang off-key or were dancing with two left feet, it was a joy to watch every one let loose and have fun. At the end of the night, the Marketing and Circulation departments emerged as the winners in this fun talent competition.

As a cherry on top, the company raffled off awesome items to its team members like a karaoke set, rice cooker, blender, and gift certificates. Samsung and Huawei phones were also raffled off as top prices.

SunStar Davao would also like to thank those who supported its Christmas Party -- Golly Manpower, Fujifilm, Cebu APS Mktg., Smart, and King’s Lechon.

It was truly a fun night during the Christmas party of SunStar Davao. Despite the challenges a year presents to the team, it still has time to enjoy the company of one another.
