THE Department of Health in Davao Region (DOHDavao) has reported that a total of five positive coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients recovered and tested negative from the highly-infectious disease in the region.

Based on DOH-Davao regional situation update on Covid-19 as of 4 p.m. on March 29, Davao City has noted four patients at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) whose condition has improved and eventually discharged from the hospital.

Aside from the four, the first patient in the region from Pantukan, Davao de Oro, tagged as PH130, was released from the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) on March 23.

The recovery of the five Covid-19 positive patients has given the public a ray of hope amid the pandemic. No vaccine has been developed yet to cure patients with Covid-19.

Earlier, DOH-Davao director Dr. Annabele Yumang said they cannot allow the release of asymptomatic patients yet from the hospital facility despite the improvement in their condition.

She added that another swab test must be done to ensure that they are no longer a carrier. They will release the patient if the second test is negative.

Among the common signs and symptoms of the disease are fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath.

Meanwhile, DOH-Davao posted a total of 48 cases of Covid-19 in the region. Topping the list is Davao City with 40 cases, followed by Davao del Norte (3), Davao Oriental (2), Davao del Sur (2), and Davao de Oro (1).
