AGRICULTURE DavSur secures P1.246-B for 2020 agri projects
THE Province of Davao del Sur was able to secure about P1.246 billion for all its agriculture-based projects portfolio for 2020.
In a report from the Philippine Rural Development ProjectMindanao Project Support Office (PRDP-PSO Mindanao), about 16 sub-projects, composed of infrastructures and enterprises, were applied for by the province.
Out of 16 sub-projects, nine were farm-to-market (FMR) infrastructures. Three of them are located in Magsaysay town, two in Malalag town, and one project each proposed by towns of Hagonoy, Matanao, Sulop, and Digos City.
DA-PRDP noted that two of these projects in Magsaysay were already completed which are the 8.37 kilometers (km) FMRs stretching from the Poblacion-San Isidro-Tacul worth P95.5 million, and the 12.11 km Barayong-Mabini-Bala-Upper Bala FMR stretch worth P140 million. Other projects are still ongoing.
“The on-going implementation of these infrastructure projects aim to shorten the travel time from farm to market and at the same time to increase traffic or number of vehicles traversing the area that would provide faster transportation services to locals and their agricultural products,” PRDP-PSO Mindanao monitoring and evaluation unit Joseph Rico said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the remaining projects are enterprises which include the Organic Fairtrade Banana Chips Processing in Padada worth P11.6 million, Fermented Cacao Beans Trading and Marketing worth P8 million in Kiblawan, and Cardava Banana Consolidation and Marketing Enterprise worth P7.9 million in Magsaysay.
