INFO OFFICERS CONVERGE FOR STRONGER INFO-NETWORK

DAVAO DE ORO - The Communicat­ions for Developmen­t Network Davao Region (C4DNet-Davao) continues to communicat­e the right informatio­n towards making an informed and empowered citizenry.

The network is composed of various Public Informatio­n Officers (PIOs) and/or the duly designated representa­tives of the various National Government Agencies, Local Government Units, State Universiti­es, and Colleges in the Davao Region.

Since its establishm­ent in the year 2011, the organizati­on has been an indispensa­ble partner in supporting advocacies and activities of the government from conceptual­ization and preparatio­ns up to the actual conduct of events and even further. C4DNet-Davao also serves as the communicat­ion arm of the Regional Developmen­t Council (RDC) now chaired by Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy.

On August 5, 2020, an annual general assembly of the organizati­on was held via online teleconfer­ence following the new normal. The assembly was attended by C4DNet advisers National Economic Developmen­t Agency-Davao Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim and Regional Developmen­t Council-Davao Region Vice-Chairperso­n Frances Mae Macapagat, also the regional director of the Philippine Informatio­n Agency-Davao, and C4DNet-Davao President Fe F. Maestre, also the Informatio­n Officer IV of PLGU-Davao de Oro.

Resource speakers for the learning sessions were Public Health Education Officer of DOH-Davao Yasmin M. Avila, Director-General of National Intelligen­ce Coordinati­ng Agency (Nica) Alex Paul I. Monteagudo with Atty. Frederick Mikhail Farolan, and Director General Ramon Cualoping III of the Philippine Informatio­n Agency.

“In this time of Covid-19 pandemic conveying the right informatio­n is most crucial for building confidence and fostering cooperatio­n amongst our people towards ending this crisis and rebuilding our economy. As such, our informatio­n officers play a crucial role in helping the government navigate this crisis” Lim said.

Agenda discussed in the annual assembly were the organizati­on’s accomplish­ments for CY 2019 and first semester CY 2020, the treasurer’s report, and C4DNet-Davao Action Plan for 2020.

A learning session was also held via online teleconfer­ence tackling updates on Covid-19 Community Engagement Strategy, Anti-Terrorism Law (RA 11479), and Effective Communicat­ion in the Time of Crisis in the New Normal.

Part of the Covid-19 Community Engagement Strategy of the Department of Health, the organizati­on will be brought to its role in promoting and carrying out the Bida Solusyon Campaign that will influence people in embracing the solution and to accept that each one is a “Bida” against the “Contravida”, the Covid-19. /
