Davao City Mayor Sara now back on Facebook

-

AFTER years of deactivation, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is back on Facebook.

Duterte-Carpio launched her own Facebook page, “Mayor Inday Sara Duterte”, which was created on Friday, July 16, 2021.

The mayor posted a video message on Saturday, July 17, 2021 confirming that it is her page.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong suporta, pagtitiwala at kumpyansa. Gusto ko pong makilala ninyo ako bilang isang Mayor at isang kababayan, kabilang ninyong nagmamahal sa ating bansa. (Thank you for your support, trust, and confidence. I wanted the public to know who I am as a mayor, and as your fellow countrymen who love this country.) Welcome to my official Facebook page,” Duterte-Carpio said.

As of Sunday afternoon, the page already has 82,788 page likes, and 92,672 followers.

The page contains all of the mayor’s activities within and outside Davao City.

The mayor has yet to issue further details about her Facebook page.

The creation of her official page came after Duterte-Carpio confirmed that she is “open” to the idea of running for the presidency in next year’s national elections.

However, the mayor said she is still weighing the public’s pulse on her possible presidential bid in 2022.

It can be recalled that Duterte-Carpio has been out of Facebook after her account was locked due to multiple hacking attempts in early 2019.

The mayor has been relaying her official statements through the Davao City Information Office, and the City Government of Davao Facebook page.

She also airs her statement during her weekly radio program entitled “Special Hour” every Monday on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio since March 2020, the period when the Covid-19 hit the city.

For some time, the mayor had also been using Instagram (@indaysaraduterte) as her platform for her statements and photos on both work and personal matters. However, all of her Instagram posts became empty sometime in May 2020.

While Duterte-Carpio had not issued any official post about it, she became active again on January 26 this year.

As of Sunday, the account has already 12 posts, with more than 481,000 followers. /
