City now has 59 vaccination sites

THE Davao City government is ramping up its vaccination program as it now has 59 vaccination sites, and has already administered more than 400,000 doses.

Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said in a radio interview that as of Friday, July 16, 2021 of the total inoculation hubs, 21 are managed by the City Health Office (CHO), nine by hospitals, and 29 by different sectors.

Schlosser said the latter is particularly focused on the A4 priority group or the essential workers.

“Mas daghan atong sectoral sites kay mas daghan sila, mao man gud atong working population so daghan pud atong gi-open nga sites. Daghan na ta coverage sa atong A4, nag-sectoral pa ta (We have more sectoral vaccination sites as they are our working population so we opened more sites. We have already covered a lot of those in the A4 and we still put up sectoral sites),” Schlosser said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

The official said other vaccination sites are now operating even during weekends to cater to the essential workers who are not available for vaccination during workdays.

She, however, encouraged employers to allow their employees to get vaccinated.

“Isa ra atong tumong nga ma vaccinize tanan og ma-eradicate ang virus (We only have one aim, to vaccinate all and to eradicate the virus). I’m pretty sure ilahang mga employers (their employers) are very supportive sa (of the) local government activities like this,” Schlosser said.

‘Zero’ fatal effects

The official said the city government has not recorded any adverse or fatal effects of the anti-Covid vaccines administered to Dabawenyos – only mild and very short in duration side effects that disappeared hours after the vaccination.

“So far wala ta natala na (we have not recorded anything) rare and fatal,” she said, adding that the city government together with the Department of Health (DOH) will immediately investigate should there be reports of major or fatal effects on the vaccinated person.

Aside from feeling pain in the vaccinated area, body pains, or weariness, no serious adverse event was ever reported to the Davao City Vaccination Cluster. Most of the mild adverse events usually ease within 24 hours.

As of July 15, the Vaccination Cluster recorded a total of 290,946 individuals who received their first anti-Covid-19 vaccine shots – 47,050 in the A1 group (health care workers), 74,313 in A2 (senior citizens), 100,731 in A3 (persons with comorbidities), 61,137 in A4 (essential workers), and 7,715 in A5 (indigents).

At least 112,499 got their second doses (34,246 for A1; 14,324 for A2; 54,379 for A3, 299 for A4; and 674 for A5). /
