City to hold 130 brgy caravans in 2023

THE city government of Davao is slated to conduct 130 barangay caravans for 2023, according to the Barangay and Cultural Communitie­s Affairs Division (BCCAD).

A total of 23 city government agencies are expected to participat­e, including the Anti-Scam Unit to assist victims of scams or modus, the City Assessor’s Office for land and building appraisal services, the City Civil Registrar’s Office for birth certificat­e concerns, and City Health Office for medical services, among others.

The City Environmen­t and Natural Resources Office, City Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office, City Mayor’s Office, and other government offices are also participat­ing to cater to different concerns while 13 national government agencies are also invited to join the caravan.

The barangay caravan will start on February 14 at Barangay Gumalang and will end on December 20 at Barangay Marapangi.

Throughout the year, the BCAAD will visit barangays in all three legislativ­e districts of Davao City. For March, seven caravans are planned, 11 in April, eight in May, 19 in June, nine in July, eight in August, 17 in September, 19 in October, 12 in November, and 19 caravans in December.

“Amoa gyod giawhag ang tanang mga lumulupyo sa ilan sa atoang mga upcoming barangay na bisitahon na dili gyod sayangaon atong higayon nga makabisita ang (barangay caravan), mga ahensya sa inyong barangay, atoa gyod dayon i-avail ang mga serbisyo (we are encouragin­g the residents to participat­e in the caravan when it visits their barangay in order to address their concerns and avail government services),” BCCAD team leader Jimboy Panal said during a radio interview.

In 2022, Panal said 72 barangays were visited by the caravan from July to December 2022, catering to a total of 14,394 clients. /
