ENHANCING DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, SAFETY
Davao de Oro Division Office distributes emergency equipment to 10 schools
TO ENHANCE disaster preparedness and safety measures, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Davao de Oro distributed emergency equipment and supplies, known as “Go Kits,” to 10 recipient schools.
This initiative, held at the Division Office, aims to equip schools with essential tools to secure the lives and safety of students and staff during times of calamity.
In addition to providing emergency packages, the SDO conducted an orientation session to guide the school recipients in using the materials.
This thoughtful gesture underscores the commitment of the SDO to empower learners and personnel, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of knowledge and safety in the face of disasters.
Joel Jumalon, the Disaster Reduction Risk Management Coordinator, expressed his genuine support and encouragement for the recipient schools, calling upon them to redouble their efforts in educating their communities on the effective use of emergency equipment.
He emphasized the importance of proper maintenance to ensure the longevity of the materials, further maximizing their impact in safeguarding lives and fostering a culture of preparedness.
In a compelling challenge, Jumalon urged the 10 recipient schools to extend their assistance to other school communities by sharing technical expertise, amplifying the benefits of disaster preparedness efforts across a wider network.
The schools that received this invaluable support are Datu Davao Elementary School (ES), New Leyte ES, Babag ES, Lahi ES, Liniputan ES, Magnaga ES, Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School (NCHS), and Tambongon NHS.
These schools were selected carefully based on data captured in the Enhanced Basic Education Information System (EBEIS), focusing on their vulnerability to floods.
This activity equips schools with the necessary resources to mitigate disaster risks and fosters community collaboration and resilience in facing potential challenges.
