Dear Dr. Fritz,
Just call me Alaskan Malamute. I am depressed because I am 40 now, and still I haven’t experienced being in a relationship. To tell you the truth, in my younger years, I was a bit choosy.
I wanted a nice girl. I don’t want flirts. I was also anxious about getting into a relationship before because I saw how my brother had a bad relationship with his wife, and I didn’t want that. But, it seems, I couldn’t find one. I am also afraid of approaching a girl. It could almost take my life.
Now, I am alone and I feel left out, seeing my friends married and have their family. I don’t know if I could still have a chance.

Just chill. There is nothing to get depressed. Life begins at 40. You are just beginning with the process and the game is just starting.
I know that you are envious of your friends. And just because you see your friends have partners doesn’t mean that you have to have one also. Hey, not everyone is happy and I know that a lot of them wish to be single again.
I salute you for looking for someone who is nice. You see looking for a treasure takes a lot of time. You just can’t find it easily. So, pray, take your time, find her, and if you find her, understand her, then decide if you want to be committed to her. Remember that love is not a game. It is a serious affair.
Moreover, I see that you have a problem with your confidence. Work on it. Love yourself first. And you will see later that others will start to get attracted to you.
