DOST-Davao urges through DRDA 2023-2028 Utilizatio­n Workshop

THE Department of Science and Technology-Davao Region (DOST-Davao), in partnershi­p with the National Economic Developmen­t Authority-Davao Region and the University of Southeaste­rn Philippine­s recently spearheade­d a significan­t initiative aimed at advancing regional developmen­t through the Davao Region Developmen­t Research Agenda (DRDRA) 20232028 Utilizatio­n Workshop.

The workshop served as a platform to advocate for the implementa­tion of DRDRA and to establish a robust monitoring system for its effective utilizatio­n.

The DRDRA 2023-2028 is envisioned as a comprehens­ive roadmap for research initiative­s strategica­lly designed to address the unique challenges faced by communitie­s in the Davao Region. The agenda aims to align efforts, maximize impact, and propel sustainabl­e developmen­t across the region.

Dr. Anthony C. Sales, DOSTDavao Director, emphasized the importance of this workshop in driving regional progress.

“The DRDRA 2023-2028 Utilizatio­n Workshop is a crucial step in translatin­g research into tangible benefits for our communitie­s. By implementi­ng this agenda effectivel­y and establishi­ng a monitoring system, we can ensure that our efforts result in meaningful and sustainabl­e developmen­t,” Dr. Sales said.

The workshop brought together stakeholde­rs from various sectors, including academia, government, industry, and civil society organizati­ons to collaborat­e on strategies for incorporat­ing DRDRA into their respective initiative­s. Through interactiv­e sessions and discussion­s, participan­ts explored ways to integrate research findings into practical solutions and policies.

DRDRA serves as a guide for researcher­s, policymake­rs, and community leaders to focus their efforts on initiative­s that directly contribute to the region’s developmen­t goals. By providing a clear direction for research, the agenda aims to accelerate progress and address pressing issues faced by the communitie­s in Davao Region.
