Candaba starts war vs illegal gambling
CANDABA -After the intensified campaign against danger ous drugs, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and local government here launched the fight against illegal gambling yesterday.
Led by Superintendent Paul Gamido and Mayor Danilo Baylon, authorities confiscated and destroyed four video karera units from Barangay Mapaniqui and Pangcalara to kick-off the campaign.
Gamido said that the crusade is the initiative of the local government to put a stop on illegal activities here.
The chief cop added that their station will raid all gambling sites in the 33 barangays here.
Gamido disclosed that the PNP has already restricted setting up fairs, which are also considered forms of gambling, especially during fiesta celebrations.
He added that their station will also go after illegal cockfights and its operators.
Gamido said that offenders will be facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602.
He urged all residents, especially operators of illegal activities, to stop and cease their operations before they become the subject of the campaign.
