POOR NUTRITION AND LACK OF EXERCISE LEAD TO LOW PERFORMANC­E IN SCHOOL

Nutrition is very important. We know how essential it is in the teaching and learning process. There have been some cases of high school students which lead to low performanc­e because of poor nutrition and lack of exercise. The fact that children go to school with an empty stomach, may result to poor retention and poor analyzatio­n of their lessons. The new informatio­n that has to be stored in their minds may decrease and being rejected.

Students have ideas but due to lack of energy and nutrition , one can not express themselves clearly. Their eating habits is being develop in their early young adult life. The activities at home like playing games with their gadgets, laptop, and cellphones makes their body and metabolism to deteriorat­e. Outdoor activities like playing basketball, volleyball games and other games that required physical aspect of the student is being taken for granted.

Also other foods like ramen , noodles, and other salty foods may lead to intestinal infections and other diseases related to our kidneys. Street foods and other processed foods are being enjoyed by the students not knowing the effect of the said foods. Lack of quality nutrition and exercise compound the problem because they can weaken the body and develop stress in them.

In school, children are taught the proper nutrition and the proper exercise needed by the body. What happens when a student get enough nutrition in the body ? One can have the proper attention in their studies , get good grades and good performanc­e . This is where the parents attention is needed on the health of their children.
